]]>I have lived in the same apartment since the fall of 1986. I recently signed my new lease that extends my stay to October 31, 2021. I believe I am the longest resident in this complex. I have seen several ownership/management companies, many changes in the office and maintenance staffs, and, of course, many residents moving in and out.
These past several months have been very difficult for everyone. Running an apartment complex with between 300 and 400 residents of different ages, backgrounds, interests, etc. in normal circumstances must be very difficult. During the mess we are all going through, it must be even tougher. I know I couldn't do it but I think it is important for you to know that the staff, headed by Brianna Garcia and Terri Foley, does an outstanding job every day in all areas – resident relations, maintenance, problems, all areas dealing with living conditions, etc. They all do very good jobs."

Additionally, Virgil Lucero, Matthew Bertolo and Louis Butchek at Townfair, replaced several retaining walls in hours that were asked of us for our lender inspection and that were also just unsightly.

"I love these stories about helping each other out and they inspire me to do my own part. One of our residents is quarantined awaiting the results of a Corona Virus test. She is very sick and cannot go anywhere. I made some homemade chicken soup and cornbread last night for dinner and put a large jar of the soup and some bread on her front porch this morning. (Careful not to touch anything of course :) It isn’t much but after hearing so many great stories of neighbors helping neighbors, it felt right. Among all the stress and uncertainty, it is wonderful to see the beauty in humanity shining through."

Lisa started in the industry in 2002 as an Assistant Manager at a project-based tax credit community and was a compliance specialist at a neighboring management company before she came to Sage. Lisa has a degree in American Sign Language and Deaf Study. She is a proud mother of two young children and loves the outdoors, camping and family time when she is not industriously working at Parkview!
Thank you Lisa and congratulations on all your accomplishments in 2020!

"One elderly couple said they couldn’t get to the store because they were afraid because of their age they might get sick. I asked them to make a list of the essential things they needed. I went to the store and got everything that was on their list. When I delivered their groceries they started to cry and said that was probably the nicest thing that anyone had done for them. I also told them that they didn’t owe me anything, they just needed to keep me and my family in their prayers and that would be payment enough. Shortly after that I was talking with my maintenance man and he seemed a little down. I asked him what was wrong he said he had been to every store around looking for water and TP and couldn’t find any for his family. He was pretty close to tears. I went to my home and got a package of TP 12 rolls and 2 cases of water and handed it to him over our fence. I told him no charge and that I appreciated everything he does for the Park. It was the least I could do."

"At my community, an elderly retired couple took their stimulus check and paid two residents’ rent and utilities for the month of March and gave them gift cards to local grocery store. Then those two residents that were the recipients of this generosity, paid it forward by assisting other families with helping with car repair and food."
"Our area has been hit pretty hard. Luckily, we appear to be unaffected in our little senior community. It has been difficult for everyone with social distancing policies, but we carry on. While heading to the bank, I noticed this Brier Community Food Bank. A lovely version of community coming together to help those in the neighborhood. We have posted the location of this community pantry on a flyer for our residents that may be in need of a little extra help, or may have extra to share. I am proud to say I have the pleasure of being a part of the greater Brier community."

Cathy enjoys working with the residents and loves the staff at OPT. The community just completed a total renovation which has improved all of the apartments and amenities in the 11 floor high rise. The community has remained between 98-100% occupied during the six years Cathy has been with Sage and consistently closes below 2% delinquency at month end.
It is hard work, but with time management and a staff that backs you up, it can be done. Cathy enjoys helping anyone that has a question and is always open to ideas on how to complete difficult tasks. Cathy also travels from time to time to other properties and assists with whatever is needed at Sage.
Cathy has been married for 25 years, in September of this year, to her husband, Carlos. Their son, Christopher, graduated from high school this year. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, plays BINGO (which she misses since COVID) and buys scratch-off tickets – she always wins at both!
