"In 2006, I was told about an opportunity with Investment Property Group for a role as a Human Resources Manager that would involve developing the HR department. IPG had been growing rapidly (and even back then there was no end in sight); this would require a lot of changes and processes to be implemented. I knew it was going to be a challenging role and was not an easy decision because I was scared to fail, but I knew if I didn’t push myself, I would only limit my potential.

At that time, our home office had less than 10 employees and we managed about 60 MHC properties. Once I started, I hit the ground running and don’t feel like I’ve stopped since (well except during my two maternity leaves). Around 2010, I was promoted to Assistant Controller and began overseeing the accounting and HR departments. Over the years, we added more positions within the department so my role in HR lessened and in 2019, I was promoted to Controller.

To say there’s been a lot of changes and improvements over the past 15 years would be an understatement, but I thrive off staying busy and love getting things done. Some days are more challenging than others, but I couldn’t do it without the team I work with day to day. I appreciate them and all the departments and on-site team members I work alongside with. Fifteen years sounds like a long time when you say it out loud, but it truly does not feel that way. As the saying goes, “time flies when you’re having fun!”
