This month we shine the spotlight on our Home Sales Director, David Bates. We are extremely grateful to have him as part of the team!

"I’ve been around real estate my entire life. My father was a Home Developer in the 1970s, and he and his business partners owned many different types of Commercial Real Estate when I was growing up, including a mobile home park at one time. In fact, I learned to drive by taking a golf cart around one of the mobile home developments when I was 8 or 9.
 
In the 1990’s, I bought my first condo, then my first home, and I really enjoyed the experience of being a first-time buyer. There was a lot to learn, and I had to figure things out, but it was worth it. I realized that I could continue to be a part of the joyful experience and make an impact with what I had learned at the same time by being a Realtor, so I changed careers in 2001 and never looked back.
 
I enjoyed working with buyers and sellers and always gave more time to those new to Real Estate. I also enjoyed working with investors because of my history of growing up around Real Estate, and I knew that I eventually wanted to end up in Commercial Real Estate.
 
In 2015, having experienced the ups and downs of the market cycles in Real Estate, I felt it was time to make a move back to what I felt were my roots in Commercial Real Estate. I looked at many different opportunities, but Investment Property Group had a unique position as Home Sales Director. I could work with people new to Real Estate and simultaneously be involved in the Commercial side of things.
 
Coming from the cutting-edge marketing and advertising world in multi-million-dollar home sales, I saw the opportunity to apply the same to manufactured housing. What makes a house a home? I knew that we could make a difference and, in turn, sell homes faster — a win-win for owners and ownership.
 
When I joined, I didn’t know that I would become involved in designing, ordering, and building new manufactured homes. I’m thankful that our company saw and encouraged this solution as a way to fill our vacant lots. Not only has it proven profitable, but it’s also enhanced the aesthetic, value and perception of our communities in the eyes of our new homeowners and employees. Everyone could see that we were in it for the long haul.
 
I’ve had a lot of latitude to creatively drive the process of the Home Sales Department. I’ve learned a lot from teaching and training to marketing and advertising to building and developing. I won’t see most of the new owners when they close and move in, but I know the excitement and joy they feel because I’ve felt it too. I want to thank our IPG and our employees from top to bottom because everyone played an essential part in making it happen and, at the same time, making what I do enjoyable!"
